Part 6 - Testing knowledge of a Variation

Before we do the test we will review the Options. These can be displayed using the Test Options menu:

You will see this dialog:

This allows you to set the options for two types of tests. Random tests just give you random positions and you need to guess the correct response. Linear tests give you positions in sequence for you to guess the correct response.

For Random tests, you can set the number of positions to include in the test and also which early positions to exclude.

For Linear tests, you can set the number of lines to include in the test and also which early positions to exclude.

We will run a Random test. To run a test you use the Test - Run Random Test menu or the Run Random Test toolbar button:

You will see this dialog:

Select Black and FrenchAdvance. Note that if there are very few moves, the setting to exclude early moves will be ignored.

You will see this dialog:

If you make the incorrect move you will see the following and have to guess again:
